The Third Anniversary

Today is the third anniversary of Barbara's death.

I took this picture of her at the first TG party we held at her house in Folkestone.

Nine months later she had the first operation of many that may have been initially triggered by sadistic maternal abuse in childhood.

Her life was very tough and that affected her physically and mentally, but her vivacity and tenacity kept her going until the end.

She divorced in 2016 and through the sale of the house in Folkestone at last became truly independent for the first time in her life, but the psychological toll on her had been profound.

In late 2016 she had a final, sixth laparotomy and two weeks in ITU before having an abdominal skingraft in early 2017. In the June she went down with sepsis for the third time and did not recover.

I think this is the appropriate time to sign off part 1 of my new life.

Get Rid of Cummings

Paul Samuelson, the Nobel laureate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, recalled that John Maynard Keynes once was challenged for altering his position on some economic issue. “When my information changes,” he remembered that Keynes had said, “I change my mind. What do you do?” (https://quoteinvestigator.com/2011/07/22/keynes-change-mind/)

So, Boris ... what will you do?

Today we need pragmatists, not ideologues. The UK is heading for disaster as Covid-19 has stripped the reserves that organisations put in place to tide them (and us) over a no-deal Brexit. We need time to rebuild this country; it won't change the decision made through the referendum, in fact through careful rebuilding we may achieve a better Brexit for the whole country.

The illustration came from the petition 'Dominic Cummings must be sacked ' on Change.org
